A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL NIU

This notice is to remind families of the school safety procedures in place regarding morning drop-off of students. I hope the information provided helps to avoid confusion and creates a safer, more stable drop-off routine.

The Salt River Schools Student & Parent Handbook states that SRHS students may be dropped off at the school’s gymnasium/south entrance along Highland Avenue beginning at 8:30 a.m. These doors open at approximately 8:15 a.m. on school days for students who ride the bus. If your student(s) will be dropped off at school, we ask that they arrive no earlier than 8:30 a.m. This allows our Safe Schools & Security team to properly and efficiently check in all students as they arrive.

Again, only students who ride the bus should arrive to school prior to 8:30 a.m. All other students, including those who walk to school and those who get dropped off, are allowed to enter the school beginning at 8:30 a.m. The school day begins at 9 a.m.

The Student & Parent Handbook was given to all families at registration (it is also linked above for your convenience).

In special circumstances, parents/guardians may call the school to make arrangements for their student(s) to arrive before 8:30 a.m. Those arrangements must be made with the SRHS Front Office as soon as possible. Please call 480-362-2000 to learn more. In general, the early arrival process is as follows:

  • Parent/Guardian permission is obtained by calling the SRHS Front Office. Only those students with permission from the school administration may arrive early.
  • Approved early drop-off is between 7:30-8:30 a.m.
  • Students arriving early must enter through the school’s front doors along Country Club Drive.
  • The Safe Schools & Security team will perform the standard safety checks.
  • Students who arrive early must stay in the cafeteria or the library until the first bell rings.

Drop-off times are in place and must be respected for student and staff safety. I appreciate your support and understanding. If you have any questions, please call or email me.

Sincerely,

Emily Niu, Principal
Salt River High School
